Booted and Suited @ The Boileroom

Having completely forgotten that the point of Booted and Suited is to literally get your boots and suit on, last Saturday (26th September) i entered music and arts venue the Boileroom donning my usual attire with close friend Nick to find the only others there at 8pm, apart from the bar staff, were the organisers themselves. I relaxed about not having dressed up. After being greeted and thanked for turning up by Dom who was raring to Dj at this early time I decided that the event, quite unlike Happy Daze, had been under promoted. However, I was far from worried as these nights have a habit of picking up later on. Dom excitedly told me the set is moving to London shortly and proceeded to ask me what I had been up to. The news that I had enrolled onto a Journalism degree sent his facial expression into a view of stunned confusion. Not really surprising as up until that moment the rave loving, freedom seeking acid hippy character was all he knew of me.

This shock in his face did not last long, he seemed pleased for me and continued to tell me about the many upcoming events of Guildford's top band of rave loving Djs. As i began my first pint the familiar and shockingly smartly dressed people did start to filter in. It came to my attention that the nineteen birthday of my good friend Seb was promotion enough for this event and provided the perfect opportunity for one almighty Guildford catchup.

Unfortunately for Dom and the other Djs much conversing in the beer garden was an apparent requirement before everyone transpired inside to give the rig their full attention. It was not an issue. The night went on until 1am and by 11pm the ska loving youths of Guildford were practically all getting their Skank on to a top choice of Reggae, Roots, two tone and Ska tracks. A brilliant night in all. It was a shame invitations to post party mayhem at Aztec had to be declined. My 'sensible' new approach to life. . . Don't go too far!
